Role Description
The Content and Information Officer is a dynamic and creative professional, responsible for designing engaging visual content and helping to craft compelling written materials, primarily for the SA Unions Young Workers’ Centre. This role will be essential in ensuring workers and SA Unions are represented consistently across all platforms.
The ideal candidate will be a creative and lateral thinker, possessing a blend of graphic design expertise and copywriting skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Scope of the role
The Content and Information Officer will be employed by SA Unions part time (0.5 FTE negotiable) on a two-year contract (aligned with grant funding), There is potential for ongoing employment, dependant on ongoing funding.
Flexible working options are available, the successful applicant may negotiate for their preferred working days and times. Work-from-home arrangements are available.
Duties may include:
Graphic Design:
- Creating visually appealing designs for digital and print media, including websites, social media, newsletters, brochures, and reports.
- Developing and maintaining brand assets, ensuring consistency across all visual communications.
- Collaborating with various departments to conceptualise and execute design projects that meet SA Unions’ goals.
Content Projects:
- Assist in the creation of educational and marketing materials, including advertisements, email campaigns, and social media posts.
- Work with internal teams on the production process from concept to completion.
- Maintain an organised archive of design files and content assets.
Brand:
- Ensure all content and design work aligns with SA Unions’ brand guidelines and messaging.
- Monitor and update brand guidelines as needed to reflect evolving brand strategies.
Technical and Digital Skills:
- Use content management systems (WordPress) to upload and manage digital content.
- Support the maintenance of SA Unions’ website, ensuring it is visually appealing, user-friendly, and up-to-date.
- Apply SEO best practices to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of online content.
essential Skills & experience
- Expertise in visual design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital and print work.
- Experience in social media specific content creation.
- Basic understanding of web design principles.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an ability to craft clear and engaging content.
- Experience with:
- Branding and visual identity development.
- Digital asset management and version control.
Desirable skills & Excellence
- Experience in video content creation.
- Knowledge of Labour Council and ACTU structures and activities.
- Familiarity with union coverage and priorities in South Australia.
- Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Communication and Collaboration skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders and clients.
- Ability to interpret and execute creative briefs accurately.
