About the VMA
The Venue Management Association (VMA) is an international peak Industry Association for venue professionals in the Asia Pacific region. We have approximately 1000 members representing over 300 major venues from Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia Pacific region.
Our membership consists of Entertainment Arenas, Sports Stadiums, Performing Arts Centres, Convention and Exhibition Centres, Showgrounds, Racecourses and the vast array of suppliers to the industry.
Based in Brisbane, the VMA provides their team a modern office in a central location and flexibility in office hours, along with the opportunity for travel to national events that the VMA host.
Main Objective:
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for planning, creating, and executing marketing campaigns to drive engagement, increase membership, and promote the VMA’s initiatives and events. This includes overseeing social media, member communications, website updates, and assisting in broader marketing strategies for VMA events and services. The role will involve working closely with the Membership Manager to support member engagement efforts and coordinate the sales and marketing functions. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that will require both creativity and attention to detail to ensure the success of all marketing initiatives.
This role will participate in the VMA rebranding journey in 2025.
Specific Duties:
Social Media & Content Creation
- Create engaging graphics and compelling copy for social media platforms.
- Schedule and manage social media posts through Software Programs.
- Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media channels to foster engagement and enhance community interaction.
- Collaborate with team members on marketing campaigns, ensuring messaging is aligned across all channels.
- Track social media metrics and analyze performance to refine strategies.
Member Communications (eDM & Newsletters)
- Develop and send regular member eDM newsletters including graphics, copywriting, and event promotions.
- Create and schedule member eDM campaigns and monitor follow-up actions.
- Update and maintain database accuracy in Mailchimp.
Blog Content & Website Management
- Write, edit, and publish blog posts on the VMA website, including coordinating with external contributors and ensuring high-quality content.
- Develop blog post graphics and manage the content on WordPress.
- Promote blog content through scheduled social media posts.
- Regularly update the VMA website with event information, member updates, and other relevant content.
- Create new website pages as necessary and ensure all content is up to date and functioning properly.
Venue Jobs & Industry Marketing
- Approve and create job listings on the Venue Jobs platform, ensuring content is engaging and accurate.
- Search for new job listings within the industry to enhance the job listings available to VMA members.
- Respond to queries from members or external parties regarding job submissions and listings.
- Create and schedule social media posts for each job listing.
- Replicate live job listings in Mailchimp and send Venue Jobs eDM campaigns.
Event Marketing & Management
- Create, schedule, and manage event marketing campaigns, including invitations, reminders, and follow-up emails.
- Develop social media content related to events, including event announcements and thank-you posts.
- Coordinate with venues to gather relevant event information (e.g., directions, parking, etc.) for pre-event communication.
- Coordinate the creation of assets for events, including PowerPoint templates and design work.
- Organize post-event surveys and feedback requests.
Venue Industry Awards
- Assist with the marketing rollout for the Venue Industry Awards, including campaign planning and content creation.
- Develop social media posts to celebrate nominees, winners, and press releases for the event.
General Marketing & Administrative Duties
- Develop marketing collateral (e.g., flyers, brochures, signage) for events and initiatives.
- Track and report on key marketing metrics (e.g., engagement, email open rates, website traffic) and recommend improvements.
- Creation of internal communication assets, such as email footers for the team.
- Work with the Membership Manager on joint initiatives that integrate marketing with member engagement and sales functions to support membership growth and retention.
Collaboration with Membership Manager
In addition to the primary marketing responsibilities, the Marketing Manager will work closely with the Membership Manager to ensure seamless collaboration between marketing, member engagement, and sales efforts. Key areas of collaboration include:
- Coordinating marketing strategies to drive member acquisition and retention.
- Developing campaigns to promote member-only events, benefits, and services.
- Sharing insights on marketing performance to refine member outreach strategies.
- Collaborating on content creation to enhance member communications and engagement.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Marketing Experience: Proven track record in planning, coordinating, and executing event marketing and campaigns management, preferably in the association, entertainment, business events or venue management industries.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen attention to detail.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging with members, sponsors, vendors, and event participants.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work closely and effectively with cross-functional teams, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, digital media or a related field.
- At least 5 years in marketing, communications, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Marketing Program such as Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Design, Powerpoint.
- Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proven ability to create engaging graphics and social media content.
- Experience in the venue management, events, or hospitality industries is a plus. An active interest in learning about our industry is essential
