The Role
An opportunity has become available for a
Health Promotion Officer to join
Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Undertake health promotion initiatives in line with evidence based practice
- Collaboratively design, implement and evaluate health promotion interventions and strategies
- Work with other public health practitioners and partners for the effective implementation of public health and sexual health initiatives
- Provide support for student placements and build capacity for health promotion practice
About You
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Possession of a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Health Promotion
- Working with Children Check/Blue Card (GCH will cover cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Temporary part time (up to 30 June 2025, 45.6 hours per fortnight)
- Base salary ranging from $39 86 - $58 59 per hour

The Gold Coast Public Health Unit aligns with the Nursing, Midwifery & Patient Experience Division in the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. The Gold Coast Public Health Unit aims to manage risk, prevent disease and promote the health and wellbeing of the community through the provision of:
- A specialist communicable disease epidemiology, surveillance, disease prevention and control service
- A specialist environmental health service, which includes monitoring, enforcing and promoting compliance with public health legislation on behalf of the Department of Health
- Responding to public health incidents and major events
- Health promotion and community engagement
- Health risk assessment
- Delivering immunisation services, including community clinics and school immunisation program
- Engaging in public health research and knowledge translation
