The Information Services Directorate sits within the People and Corporate Services Division and provides integral services in the information and communication technology space to the entire Department. Information Services partner with our customers and stakeholders to support and drive the development of innovative, digital, and customer-focused outcomes and services.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Team Leader, Web and Business Automation Services, the Business Automation Development Lead is responsible for the leadership of a technical team delivering major projects, ongoing improvements, and technical support for business process automation solutions primarily based on the Appian platform for process automation.
The Business Automation Development Lead role includes hands-on involvement in delivery of new business process automation solutions and maintenance tasks using the Appian platform and other automation tools and providing guidance and support to team members. The role also involves engagement with business stakeholders to understand process automation requirements, develop project proposals and business cases, and engagement of colleagues within Information Services and external service providers to ensure sufficient resourcing is in place to deliver the team’s work program in a timely manner.
The Business Automation Development Lead will work together with the Team Leader, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, and external service providers to make technical and solution design decisions. The role will also work closely with stakeholders across Information Services including business engagement, project managers and the architecture group.
This role is also responsible for motivating and/or mentoring staff and ensuring development work follows the established solution design patterns.
About You
You are an experienced leader that can drive the delivery of business process automation solutions, with expertise in the Appian platform. You have a proven track record of solving complex problems and developing innovative technical solutions within large, intricate organizational environments. You will need to excel in working under broad directives, taking the initiative in planning, implementing, coordinating, and delivering significant programs while consistently measuring and improving performance outcomes.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to articulate ideas clearly and negotiate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, addressing sensitive or complex issues with tact and professionalism. Additionally, the ability to lead customer-focused, strategically aligned services, embrace change, manage risks, and implement complex solutions promptly within your area of responsibility is crucial for this role.

Requirements
Formal qualifications in an IT related discipline, or equivalent experience with the Appian Platform.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
Remuneration
ASO7 - $108,109 to $116,864 per annum
