About the Role
Join our dynamic multidisciplinary team as a Senior Physiotherapist, where you will make a direct impact on patient care by delivering advanced physiotherapy services within the Spinal Assessment Clinic (SAC) and/or the Emergency Department (ED) at CALHN. You will utilise your extensive skills and expertise to provide specialist treatment, offering advanced musculoskeletal management and assessment. This role not only involves a clinical caseload but also allows you to contribute to the development of clinical practice through consultancy, clinical supervision, and collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals. You'll play a key role in enhancing patient outcomes through timely, effective management plans.
Emergency Department (ED): The RAH ED is one of the largest and most advanced in Australia, seeing more than 75,000 patients annually and has a critical role in South Australia’s disaster management protocols and the care of major trauma patients. The Senior Physiotherapists working in the RAH ED are responsible for the provision of an advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy service within the Emergency Department, managing musculoskeletal conditions, such as upper and lower limb fractures and soft tissue injuries, dislocations, strains and pains, spinal pain of varying degree and causes, vestibular conditions. The Senior Physiotherapist has a key responsibility of working within the RAH ED as a primary contact clinician, with support from the Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (ED), medical and multi-disciplinary team.
Spinal Assessment Clinic (SAC): Patients identified as warranting non-urgent consultation are allocated to the SAC. The service currently operates from 3 sites within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) and also delivers a suite of Telehealth services for both metro and country patients. The SAC provides assessment and surgical triage for patients with certain spinal disorders. These clinics are staffed by physiotherapists who work in an advanced practice role, with support provided by the Lead Physiotherapists (SAC) and spinal surgeons as required.
As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will also have the opportunity to share your knowledge through clinical education, supervising both staff and students, and contributing to ongoing research initiatives. Your work will shape the future of physiotherapy within a leading healthcare service, with a focus on improving outcomes across a range of complex cases. The role requires flexibility, including weekend and public holiday shifts, ensuring access to exceptional care every day. This is a fantastic opportunity to further your career in a supportive and innovative environment, making a real difference in the lives of patients and the broader healthcare community.
