About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exist within 3D Team to join us as a Nurse Consultant - Neurodiversity Education Health Collaborative (NEHCo) in a part time (0.8 FTE) capacity, until 30 June 2025.
The Nurse Consultant Employees provides clinical nursing expertise in the field of disability and mental health for children, young people and their families for a specified client group. Considered an expert within their area and stream of practice, the Nurse Consultant has a significant degree of autonomy and decision making. Various practice models may be used to enact this role, including but not limited to:
- Primarily providing disability and mental nursing care.
- Providing clinical leadership to nurses.
- Coordination and leadership of projects and/or programs that contribute clinical expertise to improve patient/client/service outcomes.
The Nurse Consultant NEHCo will use their clinical knowledge and expertise to bring an emotional health focus to how education understands and responds to the social and emotional needs of students with disability and complex health.
Employees in this role accept accountability for their nursing/midwifery practice, the outcomes of nursing/midwifery practices for the specific patient/client group, the professional advice given, delegations of care made and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.
About You
- You should be eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and holds, (or who is eligible to hold), a current practicing certificate, and is enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 3 years post registration experience.
- Demonstrated competence in nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards and in at least one of the relevant following areas; paediatric, community, disability or complex health.
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
- Demonstrated competence in delivering proficient and comprehensive mental health nursing assessment to children, young people and their families experiencing complex, acute or chronic mental illness/ trauma or a wide range of emotional and behavioural disturbance.
